For Vietnamese, this New Year greeting evokes wonderful memories of sharing Tet holidays with family and friends, honoring ancestors, and enjoying ancient traditions.  It also elicits hope, optimism and anticipation for a prosperous year ahead.  As Americans of Vietnamese descent, my wife, Chi Tam, and I grew up with these same traditions.  After years of celebrating Tet with family and Vietnamese communities abroad, it is a special honor and privilege for us to be able to share this, our second Tet as U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, with you all.  

On behalf of all of my colleagues at the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, I wish everyone happiness, prosperity and health in 2012- the Year of the Dragon.
