Consulate Celebrates Independence Day

On July 6, the U.S. Consul General hosted an Independence Day celebration. Consul General An Le, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, David Shear, and Mr. Le Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee welcomed guests to the reception and spoke on the theme of U.S.-Vietnam relations as well as on the evening’s theme, “We the People.” Guests were served a variety of American dishes, including hot dogs and fried chicken, and entertained by the 25th Infantry Division Pacific Command Army Band, which played a selection of Vietnamese and American songs. Later in the evening, special guests Elvis Phuong and Tuan Ngoc sang some of their hits to an appreciative audience.
