issues with industrial redevelopment practices
On January 8, PAS CONGEN HCMC introduced target-of-speaker Ignacio Dayrit to about ninety graduate students and lecturers at the University of Architecture who are involved in a special urban planning study program initiated by the Ho Chi Minh City government.  Internationally-acclaimed professor Dayrit shared his expertise and real-life experience  related to brownfield industrial development.  His timely topic generated lengthy discussion of how certain techniques might be applied in Ho Chi Minh City.  Several architects emphasized the urgent need for these new practices to help convert industrial parks -- located within as well as around the city -- into residential areas.  Discussion also covered application of new technology and techniques to environmental rehabilitation projects that deal with polluted underground water and sewage in Ho Chi Minh City.
