The Public Affairs Section of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the Institute for International Education (IIE), in cooperation with the University of Da Nang presented the first ever "American Day" in Da Nang, to provide information about US Culture and Education to students in this central coast city. American Day featured the poster exhibit "Images of America" and presentations on study in the US, the Fulbright program, the student visa process, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Assistant Public Affairs Officer delivered opening remarks at the poster exhibit as well as an afternoon presentation on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his relevance to Vietnam. The Institute of International Education (IIE) Student Advisor followed with a presentation on study in the US and the Fulbright program, followed by a Consular Officer explaining the student visa process. Most of the question and answer period focused on visas. Both sessions drew approximately 75-100 students, faculty members and local media.
