The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General and the Institute of International Education (IIE) hosted the first ever American English Adventure.  This program offers advanced English speakers an opportunity to practice their English skills with native speakers and learn about American culture.  The first session, which drew over sixty participants, focused on themes honoring Black History Month, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Students gave presentations on various themes prepared in advance, including Dr. King’s life and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.  The Assistant Public Affairs Officer and IIE Advisor moderated the session and fielded challenging questions about African-American history in the U.S.  The Consulate General plans to hold a series of American English Adventures programs on diverse themes for Vietnamese participants.
