As part of a four-day visit to central Vietnam, Deputy Principal Officer Ken Chern gave remarks at the opening of Hue Central Hospital’s Cardiovascular Center on March 6. The state-of-the-art center is the result of three years’ hard work by the U.S. NGO East Meets West and its funding partner Atlantic Philanthropies.
On March 8, DPO Chern gave remarks and assisted in the presentation of 100 wheelchairs at the Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Center’s wheelchair donation ceremony. The wheelchairs, provided by Vietnam Assistance for the Handicapped in cooperation with the Freeman Foundation and Red Cross, will provide much-needed assistance to landmine survivors and severely disabled children and adults in the Da Nang area.
DPO Chern also visited Hue and Da Nang Universities, spoke with Da Nang area business leaders, and participated in a Da Nang repatriation ceremony for the remains of unaccounted-for Americans.
