Deputy Principal Officer Ken and other panelists at the Corporate Governance workshop

Deputy Principal Officer Kenneth Chern gave opening remarks at the United States - Vietnam Trade Council Good Governance Workshop in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam on March 23, 2007.

Talking to fifty government and business leaders, Mr. Chern highlighted the country's successful hosting the annual APEC meetings and its accession to the World Trade Association last year. He said, "Under its WTO obligations, Vietnam has embarked on a major transformation of its commercial law and regulations... This workshop, and other seminars like it, will play an important role in transforming and modernizing corporate governance in Vietnam."

The workshop was held in collaboration between the USVTC, the "Oklahoma's Advantage" program of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, and the HCMC Young Business People's Association, supported by a grant from the Office of Citizen Exchanges, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.
