Through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the United States is helping to turn the tide against the global HIV/AIDS pandemic. Since 2005, PEPFAR has worked with the Government of Vietnam to implement a comprehensive HIV/AIDS program, which includes prevention, care, and treatment components, including projects that help pregnant women with HIV avoid passing the infection to their children. These prevention of mother-to-child transmission (of HIV) projects are available in 18 provinces and cities throughout Vietnam. Thanks to PEPFAR’s support, more than 609,300 pregnant women have received HIV counseling and testing services, and more than 2,300 HIV-positive pregnant women have received antiretroviral therapy, which guards against mother-to-child transmission. Recently, Cong Minh Media, in collaboration with PEPFAR staff, filmed a documentary featuring these important programs. The documentary will air on O2TV cable channel on March 13 at 1:40 p.m., March 14 at 7:45 a.m., and March 16 at 11:15 a.m. Viewers can also watch the show on HanoiTV2 (11:45 a.m. on March 15 and 8:20 a.m. on March 16) and on VTV1 (check local listings for exact times and dates).
