US Secretary of Health and Human Services cum chair of the President’s Interagency Working Group on Import Safety Mike Leavitt visited Ho Chi Minh City on April 17 and Ben Tre province on April 18. While in Ho Chi Minh City, he met with the city’s leaders, visited the  Ho Chi Minh City’s Provincial AIDs Committee, and  toured the Saigon Port. The Secretary said during the meetings that he was very  impressed with the methadone program in Ho Chi Minh City and that he would report to the US President on Vietnam’s efforts to combat HIV/AIDs.  On April 18, US Secretary of Health Mike Leavitt  visited a poultry farm and a seafood producer in Ben Tre province. At the Ben Tre Forestry Aqua product Import Export Company or Faquimex, Mr. Leavitt not only studied the production process and the sanitary food handling in the production process, but also was interested in the raw material supply of catfish for this company. The Secretary also visited the chicken farm of Mr. Nguyen Van Chien in An Phu, An Khanh hamlet, Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre Province to learn about Vietnamese efforts to fight AI.
