After one year of operation since April 2008, the Tinh Bien outpatient clinic in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang provides treatment for more than 230 local people living with HIV. With USAID support through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program, Family Health International manages the clinic that cares for Vietnamese patients as well as poor clients from neighboring Cambodia. At the Tinh Bien clinic, more than 1,200 people referred from local clinics have received free HIV screening. Clients who test positive for the HIV virus have access to a range of free care and treatment options including home-based care and support, clinical care for opportunistic infections and life-saving, anti-retroviral treatment.
