In a productive trip to southern Vietnam, Ambassador Michael Marine visited Long An Province for the very first time on August 4.  In Long An, Ambassador Marine visited the Dong Tam Ceramic Factory, a medium-sized enterprise he commended for establishing its brand and serving as a model for domestic growth.  The Ambassador also met with the province’s People’s Committee Chairman and Party Secretary, and visited the HIV/AIDS Prevention Center, funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for HIV/AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).  Ambassador Marine reaffirmed the U.S. government’s commitment to the global fight against HIV/AIDS.

Ambassador Marine also visited Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and Ho Chi Minh City, where he toured a ConocoPhillips’ oil vessel, visited the Phu My Power Plant, and led a roundtable discussion with energy company executives, expressing support for Vietnam’s early accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
