U.S. Consulate Hosts Film Screening in Can Tho

Kelly McCarthy answers questions from students
On August 21, Foreign Service Officer Kelly McCarthy and IRC Director Vo Dac Khoi visited the US-Vietnam Studies Corner in Can Tho to conduct a movie outreach program designed to introduce Vietnamese students to the culture of the United States through film. 165 university students attended the program to watch two episodes of the television show "The Little House on the Prarie". The shows prompted students, nearly 85% of whom came from towns outside of Can Tho, to talk about the difficulty of leaving home to attend university and to discuss the beliefs, culture, society and present conditions of the Native American Indians. This film showing is part of a series of film events to be held at the Can Tho Public Library’s US-Vietnam Studies Corner. For information on future events, please contact the Information Resource Center at uscongenhcmc@state.gov or the U.S.-Vietnam Studies Corner at tvct@hcm.vnn.vn
