On August 25, Ambassador Michalak made his inaugural trip in Vietnam to Hue, the cultural heart and former imperial capital of Vietnam, where he and Consul General Fairfax celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Fulbright Program and met with an array of government, religious, and educational leaders.  In addition to meetings with the provincial People’s Committee Chairman, the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha (VBS), and a well-known local artist, the Ambassador also spoke with more than 500 students at two of Vietnam’s premier educational institutions. At Quoc Hoc High School and Hue University’s College of Foreign Languages, Ambassador Michalak highlighted his commitment to help Vietnam to improve its educational system and his support for increasing the number of Vietnamese students studying in the U.S. Students at both schools engaged the Ambassador in lively question and answer sessions, in which they demonstrated their impressive English skills and a strong desire to study in America.
