On September 10-13, the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City hosted a speaker program by Judge Randall R. Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  As Vietnam moves ever-closer to joining the WTO, Judge Rader’s expertise was particularly timely and relevant for Vietnam’s legal and business community.  Addressing members of the HCMC Bar Association, the HCMC International Business and Law Academy, University of Law students, and the Young Businessperson’s Association, Judge Rader underscored the importance for Vietnamese lawyers specializing in trade to have a thorough knowledge of international law, as well as technical and scientific expertise.  The judge also participated in a Fulbright Economics Teaching Program Colloquium on intellectual property (IP), where he presented IP case studies, and discussed commercial disputes, international arbitration, and anti-dumping laws.
