Idaho Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter and his wife Lori led a delegation composed of state officials and Idaho business leaders on a trade mission to Ho Chi Minh City from October 15 to 19, 2008. In addition to representatives from the state's large agricultural sector, industrial firms as well as Idaho State University were represented on the delegation. During meetings with local government officials as well as individual private firms, members of the delegation searched for opportunities for increasing two-way trade between Idaho and Vietnam. Three members of the delegation traveled to Hanoi to meet with counterparts there. During his meeting with HCMC Chairman Quan, Governor Idaho invited the Chairman to lead a return delegation to Idaho in the coming year.
