Ms. Norland pauses the film to explain new vocabulary and to review content and themes

On October 16, 2008, Public Affairs Officer Patricia D. Norland conducted a film showing in honor of Columbus Day at the U.S. - Vietnam Studies Corner in Cantho Public Library. During the film showing of "Magnificent Voyage of Christopher Columbus," Ms. Norland paused the film to explain vocabulary and to review and discuss content and themes of each segment of the documentary.  She also read from trip logs of Columbus’s voyages to show the value of primary historical sources.  After the film, students enthusiastically answered historical questions based on the film and Ms. Norland handed out prizes such as the America 24/7 presentation book and U.S.- Vietnam Studies Corner cloth bag and pen.
