DPO's trip to Hue and Da Nang enriches American presence in Central Vietnam

DPO Kenneth Chern visited Hue and Da Nang 20-23 November, 2005. In Hue, the DPO gave remarks at a ceremony to deliver 50 wheelchairs to Hue's disabled, met with the Rector of the Hue College of Foreign Languages to discuss USG support for the establishment of an  American Studies Department, and gave a lecture on U.S. culture to 52 college students. In Da Nang, the DPO joined Defense Attaché Colonel Chakwin to discuss U.S.-Vietnam military cooperation with the Military Region 5, met with Da Nang City External Relations Department officials, lectured on U.S. History to 43 Da Nang College of Foreign Languages English Department students, and attended a reception hosted by a French Naval Ship making a port call to the city.
