How to Pay the SEVIS Fee

Please note:  Any applicant appearing for his or her interview who has not paid the SEVIS fee will not be permitted to interview and will be asked to return to the Consulate at a later time with proof that the fee has been paid.

Option 1: Paying the fee online (credit card only)

If you have a Visa or Mastercard, you may complete Form I-901 and pay the fee online at https://www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/. When you pay online, you can immediately print an unofficial receipt, which can be presented at your interview as proof of payment.

Option 2: Paying the fee by mail (U.S. check only)

This method of payment can take up to one month or more for you to receive an official receipt as proof of payment, which should be presented at the time of your interview. http://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/I-901.pdf

Step 1: Log onto http://www.ice.gov, and click on the links to download form I-901 (PDF 96KB).

Step 2: Complete the form and follow the instructions on page 2 of form I-901 to mail the payment and Form to US DHS. Please do not mail cash.

• Reciprocal Issuance Fees Applicants may also be subject to additional visa issuance fees depending on a number of factors including visa class, applicant nationality, and the length of validity. Issuance fees are based on reciprocity with other countries. Issuance fees are only charged if the visa is issued and must be paid at the U.S. Consulate General after the interview. For a list of reciprocal issuance fees by country, go to http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/reciprocity/index.htm.
