ONLINE PASSPORT STATUS-CHECKS
Effective August 12, 2005 anyone (domestic and overseas customers) who recently applied for a U.S. passport and wants to know the status of their application may do so by accessing http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/status/status_2567.html. Customers can securely enter their last name, date of birth, and the last four digits of their Social Security Number to receive information on the status of their application.
DEPARTMENT INSTITUTES NO-AMENDMENT POLICY
Effective Monday, September 26, 2005 the Department will no longer amend passports. Individuals who need a name change or correction of bio data, or who seek to extend a limited validity passport will need to apply for a replacement passport. If the change is requested within one year of the passport issuance date, there will be no charge for replacement service. Changes requested more than one year after the original issuance date, however, will require the applicant to pay the full passport renewal fee. Visa pages will continue to be added free of charge.
