Passports

The American Citizen Services unit issues emergency U.S. passports, renews passports, amends passports in the event of a name change, and provides additional passport pages as necessary.

Applicants for U.S. passports should apply in person from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday to Thursday, except holidays.  Applicants must bring two 2 inch x 2 inch (5 cm x 5 cm) photos on a white background (Polaroids are not acceptable) and evidence of U.S. citizenship, such as a previous passport or a Naturalization Certificate.  Passport application forms are available at the American Citizen Services unit or on the State Department's website.

If your passport has been lost or stolen, you should also bring a local police report and some form of identification.  A replacement can be issued upon presentation of proof of identify and U.S. citizenship.

Fees for U.S. passports are as follows:

  • New passport for an adult (age 16 or over and for first time applicants): US $100.00
  • New passport for children (under age 16 and for first time applicants): US $85.00
  • Adult passport renewal: US $75.00 for a ten-year adult passport
  • Minor passport renewal: US $85.00 for a five-year minor passport
  • Replacement of lost or stolen passport: US $100.00
  • Additional passport pages: free

All fees are payable in U.S. dollars in cash, or by the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. The Consulate General does not accept checks or Vietnamese Dong.

We will forward passport applications to the National Passport Center in the U.S.  The National Passport Center will print the passport and send it back to us.  This process will take approximately two weeks, so we strongly encourage you to apply for a passport well before any planned travel.

More information regarding U.S. passports is available on the State Department's website.
