U.S. Franchise Brands Seeking Partnerships with Local Entrepreneurs

HANOI, December 13, 2011 – Specializing in everything from hamburgers to ice cream, representatives of 18 U.S. brands visited Vietnam to find local partners interested in becoming franchise owners.  Members of the delegation met with interested businesspeople in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from December 6-10.

“Franchising is well-suited for Vietnam, not only because Vietnamese buyers have an affinity for U.S. brands, but because the Vietnamese also have the work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit necessary to build strong businesses,” said U.S. Embassy Commercial Counselor Sarah E. Kemp.

Over the course of the five day visit, the delegates held over 150 individual meetings with business people interested in franchising U.S. brands in Vietnam.  As Mr. Steve Devine from restaurant chain Johnny Rockets noted, “We've been impressed with the number of qualified potential partners.”

The trade mission continued in Jakarta on December 11-13.
